OPERATING VOLTAGE
The motor control centre is suitable for connection to a 3 phase 50 hz supply operating at voltages of up to 690 volts.
RATED INSULATION VOLTAGE
The motor control centre has an ASTA certified rated insulation voltage of 1000 Volts.
RATED IMPULSE WITHSTAND VOLTAGE
The motor control centre has been ASTA certified for impulse withstand voltages as follows,
- 6kV on all functional units
- 16kV on horizontal and vertical busbars
OPERATING CURRENT
Minimum ratings for horizontal busbar systems are as follows,
- 1250 amps - 1 x 80 x 10mm Copper Busbar
- 1600 amps - 2 x 80 x 10mm Copper Busbars
- 2500 amps - 3 x 80 x 10mm Copper Busbars
- 3200 amps - 3 x 100 x 10mm Copper Busbars
Minimum ratings of vertical busbar systems are as follows,
- 460 amps - 1 x 40 x 6.3mm Copper Busbar
- 690 amps - 1 x 50 x 6.3mm Copper Busbar
- 900 amps - 1 x 80 x 6.3mm Copper Busbar
The above ratings have been proven by ASTA certified temperature rise type testing. Up to 6300amp busbar systems can be achieved by centre feeding of the horizontal busbar system.
FORM OF SEGREGATION
The motor control centre is ASTA certified as complying with Form 4 segregation it can however be supplied as Form 2, or Form 3 as an option.
DEGREE OF PROTECTION
The motor control centre is supplied as IP43, as standard however it can be supplied as IP55 as an option. These ratings have been NATA certified.
CLEARANCE AND CREEPAGE DISTANCES
The motor control centre has been ASTA certified to comply with the requirements of IEC 60439.1 for clearance and creepage distances.
EFFECTIVENESS OF PROTECTIVE CIRCUIT
The motor control centre has been ASTA certified by prospective current calibration as well as tests to verify effective connection between the exposed conductive parts of the asembly and the protective circuit.
CONSTRUCTION
The motor control is of modular construction. All sheetmetal components are manufactured from 2mm zinc annealed sheet steel.
The motor control centre has 3 variations.
- Single sided, front connected.
- Back to back, front connected.
- Back connected.
There are 10 variations of tier sizing generally these consist of,
- 360mm wide 600mm or 800mm deep.
- 560mm wide 600mm or 800mm deep.
- 820mm wide 600mm or 800mm deep.
- 920mm wide 600mm or 800mm deep.
- 1080mm wide 600mm or 800mm deep.
The standard height of the motor control centre is 2305mm. It is mounted on a 3mm x 75mm high base. The base is hot dipped galvanised.
Motor control centre modules are plug in demountable design and have a minimum size suitable for a 11 kw starter or 63 Amp feeder.
Module doors are hinged from the shelf. To open the door or to remove the module from the connected position, the functional unit switching device must first be turned to the off position.
All doors are fitted with earth provision adjacent to top hinge.
Intermediate shelves are fully modular and it is possible to remove, replace and make minor alterations to the arrangement of the motor control centre without de energising the busbar system.
In the case of single sided front connected, and back to back front connected MCC’s a vertical cable zone of 300mm (400mm optional) internal dimension runs adjacent to each tier of modules this is on the right hand side to ensure inter changeability of modules. The MCC is also provided with horizontal cable zones for interconnecting cables at the top and bottom of each tier.
Gland plates are fitted at the top and the bottom of all MCC tiers.
